Department Overview
Gold Hill Fire Protection District serves a historic mountain community west of Boulder, Colorado, operating at elevations near 8,500 feet in the Front Range. Staffed by a small, dedicated volunteer team, the department provides all-hazards response including wildland fire suppression, structure protection, and emergency medical services across a remote and rugged response area.
Community & Response
Gold Hill’s district is defined by steep terrain, narrow access roads, and a heavy wildland-urban interface where homes are closely integrated with forested landscape. Changing weather conditions, limited access, and extended response times require apparatus that can operate reliably and perform multiple roles. This multi-purpose unit strengthens the department’s ability to respond effectively across a wide range of incidents—providing dependable capability for wildland, structure support, and medical response in a challenging mountain environment.
