Department Overview

The Madera County Sheriff’s Office oversees emergency services and search and rescue operations across more than 2,100 square miles of California’s Central Valley, Sierra Nevada foothills, and high-country wilderness. From remote backcountry rescues and technical incidents to disaster response and mutual aid deployments, the agency’s Search & Rescue Unit serves one of California’s most geographically diverse operating environments.

Community & Response

Following the successful delivery of a SWEV Model 2 Rescue in 2023, this custom Search & Rescue unit further strengthens Madera County Sheriff’s operational capabilities with a platform purpose-built for extended field operations. Featuring enclosed, secure equipment storage, enhanced off-road mobility, integrated emergency lighting, heavy-duty front protection, and recovery equipment, the vehicle is designed to transport personnel and specialized SAR equipment into challenging terrain safely and efficiently. Whether supporting wilderness rescues, disaster response, or emergency operations throughout the Sierra foothills and backcountry, this addition provides the versatility and durability needed to support the Sheriff’s Office mission for years to come.
