Department Overview
Located near Ketchikan, Alaska, the South Tongass Volunteer Fire Department serves approximately 2,500 residents across 22 square miles of island coastline and rainforest terrain. Accessible only by boat or air, the department operates in one of the most remote areas in the U.S.
Community & Response
This apparatus provides reliable pump-and-roll operation for a district facing challenging access and long response times. It supports structure fires, wildland interface, and mutual aid to surrounding island communities.
