Department Overview

Sunnyside Fire Department protects the City of Sunnyside, Washington—a vibrant agricultural community in the Yakima Valley. The department provides full-service fire suppression, EMS, and rescue response, staffed by dedicated career firefighters serving one of the larger municipalities in Yakima County.

Community & Response

Sunnyside’s response area encompasses residential neighborhoods, commercial districts, and surrounding agricultural operations, with a population exceeding 16,000 residents. These two new SWEV Custom Command Units provide a mobile platform for incident command, operations oversight, and interagency coordination—supporting the department’s mission to protect life and property throughout the Lower Valley.
